The hungry Baryonyx made her way through the thick vines, branches and foliage, each step deliberate and cautious, sneaking quietly up to her prey, a smaller, fleet dinosaur fishing unawares. With a pounce and a snarl, she launched herself upon the scrawny thing, which immediately ran off into the shrubbery.
She followed it, weaving lithely through tree trunks, her amaranthine eyes intent on her prey. But before she could catch it, she was startled by splashing and commotion from the nearby river. Carefully she retraced her steps, camouflaging in perfectly with the forest environment, and peered out from the thick leaf cover.
The tumult was evidently catalyzed by an attack. A Troodon and a herd of Edmontosaurus, surrounded by some evil-looking Mapusaurus. Jet considered joining either cause, but decided instead to watch and wait. She might be able to steal some meat at the end if anyone died.
Her eyes widened in surprise as she saw the small Troodon bravely use his small size to his advantage in a clever move. For a moment she thought – company; friendship – but then she shook her head and settled down, enraptured with the ensuing battle.
The Edmontosaurus, on the other hand, had no trouble using his size for an upper hand. Etta was sure if that monstrous herbivore sat on her, she'd be flat as a leaf before you could blink.
When the fight ended, the two herds socialized for a while, momentarily disregarding the carcass, and Jet slowly sneaked out of her cover, each step soaked up by the moist ground, closer and closer to the fallen animal. She was willing to share with a few scrawny Troodons, but not the entire pack!
She sunk her teeth into the delicious red meat, alert, ready to spring back into the shrubbery with a large chunk of the spoils.
